What a dilemna! Do we fund bicycle trails, orKatrina/Rita? Do we continue federal employees health benefits or fund additonal scenic highways. What do these elected officials constituents think about themselves & their leaders' positions? ...and don't think this is `one party' - they areALL hanging on to their billions - worthwhile or not!

I also read somewhere a few days ago that the Space Program said there reallyis money `there' for them to continue their programs. I am a space advocate, but not today, thank you -

You need to let your congressmenhow you feel. No congressman, Republican or Democrat, from Maryland or Northern Virginiawill support federalretiree cuts- unless they want an early retirement!

However,I imagine federalretiree cuts might bevery popularoutside of the Beltway.

We don't want cuts - just offer the opportunity of conversion to a defined contribution plan and eliminate all those years of legacy costs. I'm ready.

Not me. I'd need a $1.5M conversion to match my projected CSRS annuity. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Incidentally, I wasn't implying that federal employees outside the Beltway wanted cuts. However, theaverage tax payer (inside and outside the Beltway) probably wouldn't mind.
