Oil Glut? Here Comes Some More!

    By CLIFFORD KRAUSSOCT. 5, 2016

HOUSTON — Global oil markets are flooded with cheap crude, and concerns about climate change are growing louder. The last thing the world seems to be craving is the discovery of new large oil and natural gas fields.

But such fields have been found in the last month. And two of them are in the United States — one in Texas and the other off Alaska.
The new finds, while still preliminary and in need of more testing, could further cement two realities of the energy business: oil prices could stay low for a long time, and oil companies will keep seeking to increase their reserves for future production.

    Ponder me this?

Yesterday a gas station near me jumped 30 cents a gallon. This morning it dropped 20 cents a gallon.

Easy...That would be a .10 cent increase overall...Bout right, since Oil is now over $50 a barrel.

You would think. On the way home it jumped back up to 2.34 a gallon.

So over a 24 hour span it jumped up 30 cents, dropped 20 cents and then jumped up 15 cents.
    $2.09 - $2.39 - $2.19 - $2.34 in a 24 hour period.

Magnitude 5.0 quake strikes near Cushing, Oklahoma: USGS

The quake was centered 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Cushing, a small city of about 8,000 people some 50 miles west of Tulsa, which is the location of intersecting oil pipelines and is considered a hub for crude oil shipment.

The oil and gas division of the Oklahoma Corporation commission said in a statement that they are in contact with pipeline operators, but so far there were no immediate reports of damage to pipelines.

A spokesman for Enbridge Energy Partners, which has storage capacity of 20.1 million barrels at Cushing, told CNBC there was no impact to its facility, and operations were continuing as normal. A representative from Magellan Midstream Partners said an initial assessment turned up no signs of damage associated with the quake.
