Whew market is something else but….here’s an off topic subject that I wanted to share with ya’ll:^



I took two of my horses (5 year old quarter horse mares) to a well known cowboy trainer here in the local area yesterday…..he really has a great reputation, highly requested …I was suppose to take them the day before, but he was called on an emergency to get a race horse which was hurt severly into a trailer and to the vets…they said he was the only one that could handle it….the horse is the last of its gene pool and they wanted to save him for breeding.



Anyway…..these two horses I have are the grandchildren of National champions….Supreme and Super Supreme champions of the APHA and AQHA…both are really great horses themselves in personality….a little scared but still they are bright, cheerful and just overall happy…..sometimes fussy but really great horses.



A little background about these horses is in need, I’ll make it simple, they came our way as 3 year olds and were not handled other than to feed….so they didn’t trust humans, they were basically wild…:shock:.and apparently, after we have been working with them the Parelli way, it appears they had been beaten some….I don’t know who would want to beat these two because for one they’re great personality wise, second, every time I take out “Moonshine� (our Tobiano paint) to some event to get use to being in the atmosphere surrounding those events, someone always comes up to us and ask’s us if we want to sell her!!! Now, here is a horse that is a looker and she has it all….if there is an event I would bet she could master it….this is some kind of horse and the previous owners were breeders and didn’t see her potential….the other is Golden Girl (Goldie for short)….she is a sweetie and she reminds us of Miss Piggy…:P .she eats all the time and her nickname is “The California Blonde-Miss Piggy� Yep you got it she is a blonde…..and she looks just like her famous granddaddy…:^



Problem was, Goldie wouldn’t get in the trailer, my wife and I haven’t had much to do with horses and our training ability is limited….so in comes the trainer….who has had Moonshine out at his place for some basic training back in Jan…..well he shows up with a three horse bumper pull (slant load) and has Goldie on the trailer inside of 15 minutes….loader her three more times then off they went to the “Farm�…I was so proud of her getting over her fears….she wouldn’t get her back two feet in !!! We have been working with her off and on for months trying to help her over her fear…… Moonshine just jumps right in!! She is going back to the FARM to get touched up and trained some more……we want to accelerate their basic training some and since our time is limited the trainer comes into the picture and he’s great with kind methods…….After I got to the FARM with our trailer, Goldie and I played around with our trailer and its like she never had a problem…all in a couple of hours……..I just need some more training myself…..Boy, I was proud proud proud of her…:u:u:u



Well, here comes Daddys proudest moment…..the trainer and I took the horses for a trail ride of sorts, he worked with Goldie, since she was raw and needed basic training and I rode Moonshine, Later on the trainer mentioned to me that Goldie was a very quick learner…..proud as could be I was…o…..but the thing I was surprised of with Moonshine was her reaction to our length of time riding….we had been 3 hours riding and she didn’t complain one bit……we normally on her for 20 minutes and then she wants to stop……I was proud of her because of her tolerance yesterday….she rode in the woods, under tight situations, we rustled up some 30+ yearlings into a corral and she didn’t even spook…:u

Yep, yesterday, I was a proud papa…..dang good horses, I felt like the luckiest man in the world to have a pair like those two!!! Trainer feels the same way….he’s saying to me how lucky I am to have such fine horses…..:u

Next Friday, I’m going to try my hand at taming some yearlings…..the trainer has some for me to cut my teeth on…..this is going to be fun….
