    puertorico,

Just how much money do you think you will make staying in your position for one day? You have taken a very conservative position with limited risk - to me no risk.

If you want and love danger try a 100% position in anything.

Your current position will allow you to dollar cost average in either direction using your excessF fund money. Try it you'll like it.

    Coolhand,

Buddy, you like danger. What happens if the Fed takes into account the approaching Rita and the subsequent danger and destruction that may be evident. They will certainly pause or there won't be any voluntary money contributions for the next set of victims - they may even decide to forget temporary inflation worries and drop the darn rate . Why wait until later - the country needs lower rates now. If a surprise does happen we should get a significant lift off - with mucho short squeezes.

No way are they gonna drop the rate. That would put all those foreign capital inflows in peril not to mention drive the dollar down. We will have plenty of liquidity to buoy the market in the meantime. It would be enough to just pause...even for just one meeting till AG steps aside. Although I don't think that will happen either. For now, the market should have already priced in the next rate hike.

    Warp speed Mr. Spock.

I'm waiting the market to go down to buy low
but it is not that easy & missing good days up.

I hope to be full invested for . nov . dec.
If the market go lower inoct I will start buying ...

Thinking about dollar average work better than
    catching the market

Drum Roll: Yesterdays big winner: Carnival Cruise Lines (NYSE: CCL - News) is only, in the immortal words of Jimmy Buffet, "trying to reason with hurricane season." Thus far, though, the world's largest cruise operator has escaped with minimal financial impact. This morning, the company posted record third-quarter net income of $1.15 billion and announced that advance fourth-quarter booking levels are running at an even faster pace than last year's.

Wonder if the profit had anything to do with the Gov handout to Carnival of 256 Million dollar's to house 1000-->4000 Homeless from New Orleans. Well that may have been nice except there are no takers from the Homeless. The contract was for 6 months. That’s 177K/Family or 29K / month. I think the money would have been better spent had FEMA given the Homeless a housing voucher and Job training for those that were in need of it.

With Gold Up and the fear of $ 100/Barrel behind us, I see no reason the rates will not go up today. How does that affect the small player? Will there be a downward trend over the next few months for Stocks ? S&P is at Aprils price wondering if I should wait for additional drop before buying more? I still have 40% left to average into the S&P

    Any thoughts are appreciated
