Local State Representatives in Maine are asking the governor to temporarily lift the state fuel tax. This tax is at approximately twenty five cents a gallon. The cost fuel is now at $3.00 to $3.15 a gallon. Perhaps it will happen. Hmmmm. :? If it did happen perhaps other areas will do the same. The reason this was taken up is they have been getting a lot of calls from the people in the state.

I received my paycheck, but my contribution to TSP (and matching contribution) has not been put into my TSP account yet. Has anyone else not received their contribution in the TSP yet? I figure there will be a delay, just wondering if my problem is normal. I've seen announcements on TSP.gov about withdrawals, etc., but nothing about contributions into account being delayed.

Europe to send emergency oil to US

Europe will dip into its emergency stocks of gasoline to help the United States through an energy crisis that began when Hurricane Katrina smashed into Gulf coast refiners, EU governments said on Friday.

France, Germany and Spain said they were ready and able to send fuel across the Atlantic in an operation coordinated by the West's energy watchdog, the International Energy Agency. A U.S. government official confirmed Washington had asked for help and said most of the gasoline would come from Europe.

EU nations have watched in horror as the world's richest country struggles with the aftermath of Katrina. Thousands are feared dead and troops in the flooded city of New Orleans have been told to shoot-to-kill to crack down on looting.

Gasoline prices have soared by nearly a fifth over the past week and President George W. Bush has urged Americans to go easy on fuel. Unlike the IEA, the United States has only emergency reserves of crude and a small stockpile of heating oil.

"It's self-evident that we support the American bid," German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder told a news conference in Berlin.
