Why doesn't the government TSP EAFE index (I fund) track the EAFE index?

How can you invest in this fund?

Index was up .654 today and the I fund netted a big .00.

Yesterday EAFE was up .027 and I fund went up .23.

    What am I missing here?

    Thank you

Not only can I not figure out the G fund the I fund has me spinning.

    Dollar to the euro...
If the dollar drops and the I fund stayed the same you would make money... if the I fund goes up and the dollar goes up you will stay about even... The I fund converts back to dollars at the end of trading for the day... Is your answer.

    USD was only up .24%.

    That wipes out .654?

Why would the index go up .654 and not the I fund?

By the way the USD was up .32 the day prior and I fund went up .23 per share?

But EAFE was only up .027.

Seems to me the I fund should of lost money two days ago.and gained a bunch today.

    Should be interesting.

    Japan down .32 - 21.9%

    Australia down .07 - 5.1%

    and USD up .31.

Will the I fund go up .23 again?

    Probably. I am in G fund.
