    Default Precious Metals IRAs?

Greetings from a long time lurker!

What are your opinions on precious metals IRAs? Would anyone consider moving funds from their TSP account into one? Is it possible to do so without penalties that may nullify the possible gains?

I expect to see these things pop up on in mainstream in the coming months, especially with gold hitting an non-inflation adjusted high this past week. Yup, "good old fashioned gold- the true store of wealth". It just sounds sweet as apple pie just as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae once did.

If gold is such a precious store of your hard earned wealth, then I always wondered why gold was never mentioned in any of the post apocalyptic "Mad Max" movies.

    Prices yesterday...

Today Change Week Ago Month Ago Year Ago
    Gold $1,459.60 +$1.00 $1,439.70 $1,434.30 $1,151.20
    Silver $39.59 +$0.16 $37.93 $35.95 $18.24
    Platinum $1,781.30 -$27.20 $1,780.20 $1,822.20 $1,719.50
    Palladium $780.15 -$2.80 $764.50 $791.50 $512.10

When should I sell? I've been hearing that metals were in a bubble that was due to deflate since 2006. Where's the top? I'm starting to see some TV ads for gold. But I'm not hearing the teenager working at McDonald's talking about his precious metals investments they way they were about tech stocks back in the '90s.

So, I guess I'll hold on just a little bit longer.
