Default In Search of my BoA Credit Card rate

All I can find is the special balance transfer rate. Anyone know where they are hiding my card rate? I figure it's x% + one of the funds rates, and it changes day by day, but I can't even put a finger on the general neighborhood of the rate. Can't find it on my bill (since I haven't charged anything recently) and not online either, even if I log in.

Yes BoA, I have not used my credit card since you bought it from MBNA, and this is the reason. I have no idea how much I'm going to get dinged for. I thought you were supposed to report this somewhere.

I miss MBNA! I rarely use my Hyde (MBNA morphed to BoA card) card anymore and if I do, I pay it off each month. They quoted me 12% on purchases on the last statement I saw.

You need to download a statement and get out a magnifying glass. How funny is this? I just called BAC today (former 10 year MBNA cardholder here) and got a new rewards card because the NFL card just wasn't cutting it anymore. I asked if they could lower my rate today too since I haven't used the card in 2.5 years (for a balance transfer) and all they could do is give a temporary 2% rate until August.

I wonder how much BAC could save if they didn't send out a 2% balance transfer letter with 'free checks' every other week. Glad to see I'm not the only one aggravated with these crooks who made billions front running client securities with high frequency trading.

I don't have an online statement that's dated later than mid-2009. So I'm not sure if the rate is the same now even if I get out my magnifying glass. And I have this allergy to calling up just to find out the rate, since I suspect I will only get the rate for today, which may change without notice...

BofA has taken a cue from Capitol One?
    Astounding!
I ditched those btards years ago and never looked back.
Actually it was right about when they started the no SS# required Visa targeted at the
Hispanic population, there was no way I wanted to pay for that.
Isn't there a Gov sponsored CU near you folks?
Ours has a flat 12.9% which isn't that great, but not bad either, and it is kept local, not farmed out.

My BAC rate for both transfers and purchases is 8.24%. Been that way since I can remember.

Yeah, but everyone should have more than one credit card, right??? Or are those days over?

You have to have a credit score of over 750 to get the best deals and most people are in the 650-750 range according to the recent NPR story I heard. Birchtree has got to have the mythical 850 as his credit score to get that rate now-a-days

I dunno, we've really tried to ignore the whole credit score improvement game and pay down our debt and eliminate credit lines we don't use.
Nowadays, we go for cards like Home Depot that tie in 6mo same as cash, or 2-3 times a year 12mo SAC if we buy anything over $300.
Same with appliances and electronics, location by location.

BAC wanted to increase my rate during the credit crisis but gave me the option of holding my rate and not using the card - which was the option I selected. Just last week they took the card off hold and now I can borrow to my delight. I had several cards that I paid off with my margin account cash - the margin rate is currently 5.25% and may be getting ready to drop - this interest charge is tax deductable. I have two Discover cards with rates of 0% for twelve months. Used those transfers to pay off a left over 17% rate on another card.

And now, finally, in the mail, I get an overview of all my rates. Credit card, 9.95% Sheesh, how hard was that, BoA; now make it available online so we don't kill trees.

I got a notice from BofA yesterday. It's no longer good enough that I have an unused HELOC, a small moneymarket savings account and a small checking account with them that I use as a backup account for bill pay in case something goes haywire at my main bank. Very little activity in the BofA account since switching my main business to the other bank about a year+ ago, flex savings refunds still went to BofA as recently as a couple months ago tho.

so I got a notice-they want me to maintain $10K combined balance, or have a $10K loan with them or yada yada. Otherwise they're going to start charging me $15/month to keep the accounts. forget that.

time to finally pull the plug and take my backup banking business somewhere else. the house is paid off, I don't need the HELOC access at this point. I got it a couple years ago for a specific reason but then changed my mind and didn't use it.

you could always max out the heloc, buy a new pickup, then stop paying and quit the bank. i think the pols just passed a law says forgive the debts and keep people in homes, just get a new appraisal and protest the value cause the market is in a slump, dam predatory lenders anyway, it's the new normal.

you're problably safe there, besides everone deserves a home and a nice car. no matter what it costs.

you've already paid for it with your tax dollars anyhow, enjoy the ride.
    maybe
