Thread: Free Healtcare and its effects on Mkts.

Default Free Healtcare and its effects on Mkts.

Since we may be considering a public policy that could affect all of one industry in the US, I thought I would start this thread.

What will happen to the healtcare industry if Free Healthcare is started in the US?

Will it actually benefit the individual citizen?

Should anybody be exempt from the proposed healthcare system?

Some citizens will probably see a benefit, but I see this as another reason the dollar will lose value. If we think healthcare costs are expensive now, they will be MUCH more expensive when the purchaser is the federal government. We already see how much we pay for parts in the government. How much more will we be paying for health services and medicine?

As far as markets, the best bet is to invest in the big health companies, because they will be the ones with a hold on the feds, just like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have a hold. If we can find a company that is paying a major political player, like Halliburton paying Cheney, then we might want to jump on that bandwagon by investing in it just to get some of our money back from our lost income tax and the hidden tax of inflation.

What I see happening is the young adults don't have the background to make a good decision on this matter and they are going to vote in favor of this program.

It will have costs that we won't want to endure. Say goodbye to your private free choices in life, this is a first step into communism by taking over a free market industry by government.

Everyone knows anything the govt touches will cost you alot more than the free market.

    Technician,

The current healthcare system doesn't seem to work so well.

Too many people are not covered. A serious illness will bankrupt the average person. Businesses that provide coverage, particularly for retirees, feel they're at a competitive disadvantage both domestically and internationally. Using the emergency room to cover illnesses for uninsured patients that haven't received preventative care isn't efficient or effective.

What healthcare plan are you attacking? Every other developed country has universal healthcare. None of them are communist. Old people in the U.S. have universal healthcare. Why not children and working age people?

The federal government's employee healthcare plan seems to work well - at least for me. :toung: What's wrong with giving all citizens access to it? We can subsidize (or not) the premiums of the poor and/or the elderly. Everyone else can just pay.
