Default Freebees- on the web. Learn a new language

    I came across this today-

You may have heard that the company that makes Rosetta Stone Language software - went public today, and is now listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In honor of the public offering, they are offering FREE, to the first 25,000 people who sign up, 7 days of free on-line language lessons in any of about 30 languages.

I think it's really cool- and I signed up, as did my spouse, and son. Each of us are going to do a different language.

You can do it too- for free. Here is what the press release said:

"NEW YORK, April 16, 2009 – Rosetta Stone Inc. today opened for trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “RST ” after its successful IPO in which it raised $112.5 million in gross proceeds. Rosetta Stone is a leading technology-based language-learning company, and the first of its kind to go public.

“Rosetta Stone is an innovative global brand and welcome addition to the New York Stock Exchange,” said Scott R. Cutler, NYSE Euronext EVP and Head of Listings, Americas. Rosetta Stone has revolutionized language-learning throughout the world and has built an outstanding business and reputation. We look forward to a lasting partnership with the company and its shareholders.”
To celebrate its initial public offering on the NYSE, Rosetta Stone CEO Tom Adams rang today’s opening bell. Additionally, the company is offering a free seven-day trial of its award-winning language-learning solution from April 16 – June 30 at www.RosettaStone.com/NYC. The free trial is limited to the first 25,000 registrants."

I've done a previous version of their German language software (first generation ten years ago), and did some Russian in college. (very poorly, by the way ). And now I am going to do Arabic-

If you would like to give it a try, go for it!

Woot! I signed up for Mandrin, I can read a little but need a lot of practice getting the tones right (and you can really say the wrong thing with the wrong tone).

James - this was a very cool thing to share

Arabic is one of the harder - so I hope you the very best.

Would also recomment canceling in 6 days - just to make sure you don't have to wait a few hours before you finally get through.

Anyway - this is one of the best posts I've seen in quite awhile.

    Heres another one.

    A while back I came across www.coffeebreakspanish.com

I've downloaded all the MP3s but only listened to the first few.

I think I could (eventually) learn Spanish with this and best of all it's FREE!
