I will discuss things relating to GDX, NUGT, DUST, T/A, EXCEL, and/or Algo's, etc. A couple of times per week (at least).

This post is a basic introduction.

[B]What is GDX?[/B]

"Market Vectors® Gold Miners ETF (GDX®) seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index (GDMNTR[SUP]2[/SUP]), which is intended to track the overall performance of companies involved in the gold mining industry."[SUP]1[/SUP]

[B]What are NUGT and DUST?[/B]

"The Direxion Daily Gold Miners Index Bull and Bear 3x Shares seek daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of either 300% or 300% of the inverse (or opposite) of the performance of the NYSE Arca GoldMiners Index. There is no guarantee the funds will meet their stated investment objectives.

These leveraged ETFs seek a return that is +300% or -300% of the return of their benchmark index for a single day. The funds should not be expected to provide three times or negative three times the return of the benchmark’s cumulative return for periods greater than a day."[SUP]3[/SUP]

[B]Why NUGT, and DUST?[/B]

NUGT/DUST are 3x/-3x leveraged ETF's that track GDX. I trade NUGT/DUST due to their volatility and liquidity. Assuming I am on the right of the trades frequently enough, more volatility means greater returns; and liquidity helps with getting quicker fills with less slippage.

[B]Why GDX?[/B]

I do my analysis on GDX. GDX is correlated with NUGT/DUST, as they track GDX. There is less/no decay associated with GDX, and less noise.

Trading Style?[/B]

Currently, I use a customized algorithmic system I've coded in Excel. It trades, at most, once per day, normally circa the close of the markets. It can trade daily; or hold a position for weeks.

I also plan to do some traditional T/A chart displays here.
