  1. TSP Talk: A pullback into the end of the quarter

Stocks pulled back as we head into the final stretch of the month and the first quarter. There was very little dip buying until the final 30 minutes of trading, where we have seen a lot of action lately from the bulls in that final hour. The lows of the day did a good job of filling in Tuesday's open gap on the S&P 500 chart so we could see if that was all stocks were trying to do during yesterday's dip. The Dow lost 65-points while the broader indices lost more percentage wise. Oil and ...
  2. TSP Talk: The yield curve has nearly inverted. Stocks don't care.

Stocks continued their push off the recent lows and whether the lows are in or not, it seems like relief rallies, and / or pullbacks, tend to go further than we ever expect. The Dow gained 338-points with the Nasdaq and small caps taking charge as it continued to be "risk on" trading environment, and the bull flags that we've been watching were breaking out. Oil was down sharply early on helping out the market, but it did bounce back later in the day. Bonds were up as yields slipped ...
  3. TSP Talk: The bulls keep the pressure on

[SIZE=3]Stocks started Monday on the wobbly side and the S&P 500 was negative for most of the day, dipping back below a key resistance level that we have been watching closely, before it took off in the afternoon and closed at the highs of the day with a solid gain. The Dow gained 95-points, overcoming an earlier 300+ loss. The Russell 2000 overcame a 1.5% intraday loss to close flat, and the S-fund came in somewhere between the two. Oil was down sharply, and that may have been the catalyst ...
  4. TSP Talk: Interesting close on Friday

Stocks were very choppy on Friday as the indices flirted with overhead resistance making the closing prices a possible a sign of things to come. Perhaps that's making more of the technical situation that it is, but you'll see in the charts below what I am talking about. The Dow gained 153-points and the S&P 500 was up 0.51%, and all of those gains came in the final 30 minutes or so of trading as both were in negative territory just before that late rally. Small caps and the I-fund also rallied ...
  5. TSP Talk: Choppy action that looks familiar

The volatility continued and the choppy action that we were expecting after the recent rally has been playing out. That hasn't been good news this year as they have mostly led to lower prices, but will it be different this time? The gains were impressive yesterday with the Dow gaining 349-points, and large cap tech stocks leading the way, assisted by a pullback in the price of oil. Bonds were down.
