Stocks were mixed on Wednesday with the Dow gaining 59-points and small caps were leading the way again with a 0.5% gain. The Nasdaq was down while the S&P and I-fund were up slightly.


The positive bias of holiday trading continues and today is the last day of that holiday bias. While the Friday after Thanksgiving has a very good record over the years, over the last few years there have been a few down days, but the way this market has been going it will be hard to believe the bears will put much pressure on. Perhaps after the weekend but traders tend to take today off leaving the bulls to have their way.

I don't take many days off from the website but a few times a year I will back off and make things quick so I can spend more time with the family. This week is one of those times. I appreciate your understanding and patience with these brief updates this week.


The election year average chart has been very spot on this year as late October and November have been quite a few weeks for stocks after a rocky pre-election period as the chart indicated. Now the chart gets a little less favorable to the market as a late November / early December slide seems to be the pattern. But then the Santa Claus rally kicks off in mid-December. Is that the roadmap for the rest of the year? Possibly.
