  1. S&P holds above key support


    Stocks opened lower on Thursday but the bulls continued to lurk and they ended the day by pushing the indices near their day's highs, although it was still a loss. The Dow fell 37-points and it looked like a digestion of Wednesday's big gains.

  2. ... and up again


    Stocks bounced back on Wednesday after Tuesday's sell-off. Most of the indices did not get back all of Tuesday's losses as the Dow picked up 121-points after losing 190 the prior day, but the Nasdaq Composite did and actually closed at a new all-time closing high.

  3. In a perfect world...

    In a perfect world, yesterday's losses were just part of the script we've been seeing unfold, but the 190-point decline in the Dow and 1% plus losses in the major indices were a little more than we may have wanted to see in our perfect world scenario.

  4. Stocks dip into the holiday weekend


    Stocks tried to hold up on Friday but perhaps some nerves before the long holiday weekend triggered some selling just before the close. Trading volume was light, as we might expect, so the indices can get pushed around by some aggressive trading. The Dow ended the day down 54-points and most indices experienced some modest losses.

  5. Typical pre-holiday action


    Stocks were flat to moderately higher on Thursday and it was typical holiday type action with light trading volume with a positive bias. The Dow gained just a fraction while the broader S&P 500 and Nasdaq saw more solid gains.
