    Stocks were up to open the week as pre-earnings season has thus far attracted buyers. The only hold up on the momentum this week was a pull back on Wednesday in reaction to the Trump Administration announcing additional tariffs on China adding fuel to the trade war fire that investors have thus far been able to shrug off lately.     Stocks were down early in the week but action following the holiday pushed them up to decent gains. Trade negotiations were again a concern for traders keeping things slow to start a n historically more positive week due to the holiday. A solid jobs report on Friday was the catalyst to not only keep stocks above ground but push them to their highs for the week.

    Trade war tensions had their greatest effect yet on stocks this week as things heated up a bit more between the two largest economies in the world. Stocks took the greatest heat on Monday with a gap down and more than a 1% loss across indices. For the rest of the week large cap stocks jumped around without recovering those early losses but also the selling pressure did not persist either. More selling continued intraweek for small cap stocks which have been the outperformers until recently. ...

    Action in stocks was mixed throughout the week and all the TSP stocks funds took a loss by the end. The initial disturbance once again came from trade war worries as tariffs are starting to become more of a reality for the global economy. Stocks opened down early in the week and dip buyers were there on queue to buy into those losses. However, profit taking took place for the second half of the week and the cycle couldn't recover leaving negative weekly returns across stock indices.

    A lot went on last week for the market and each index reacted in its own way. Large caps stalled but weren't sold, small caps were up as usual, while bonds recovered from poor technical positioning. The associated TSP funds were all in the green for the week but at different degrees. Only the I-fund found itself in negative territory as the European Central Bank was unable to impress investors with their inaction on interest rates.
