  1. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

    Stocks were mixed this week as more earnings reports came in along with the FOMC meeting. Poor earnings reports kept U.S. stocks down keeping large caps flat and dropping small caps in value. There was also trouble in the dollar which helped foreign markets which gave the I-fund a positive gain for the week to lead the TSP funds. The FOMC had little affect on the market as expected other than some volatility intraday Wednesday.

  2. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

    The first wave of earnings reports attracted buyers this week adding about a half a percent to both large and small caps. The gains were primarily produced Wednesday following comments from Paul Ryan in regards to how congress will go about tax reform. Stocks pulled back Friday after a couple poor earnings reports. Some of the early losses were regained intraday.

    We will see more earnings reports coming in next week and conditions are still favorable for the bulls.

  3. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

    Stocks saw gains across the major indices this week with the help of Janet Yellen's dovish comments nearly ensuring no more rate hikes until the end of the year or later. Those gains were produced Wednesday after the bears put on some pressure the day before with the help of some political drama. However, Yellen's testimony blew away the bears' arsenal and the beginning of earnings season Friday was the perfect bait for new buyers.

  4. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

    Stocks were mixed this short holiday week with a slight gain in large caps (C-fund) and a slight loss in small caps (S-fund). The action bounced back and forth between buying and selling which tested support, resistance and moving averages. The jobs report came out Friday exceeding expectations with 220,000 jobs added after an expectation 173,000. This sent large stocks up and that enable them to end the week back above positive territory.

  5. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

    All of the TSP funds (except the G-fund naturally) were down for the week but all the losses were less than 1%. Stocks fell early this week after some trouble with the Healthcare Bill in the Senate gave traders a reason to sell. Relief came mid-week but it could not hold as most of those gains were wiped out Thursday. The 2nd quarter ended with a volatility on Friday, but there was some late selling.
