    Stocks moved higher this week as we headed into the holiday weekend. They continued where they ended the previous Friday - recovering from the poor day last Wednesday. The open gap was filled but the momentum continued and we saw the S&P 500 reach a new all-time high. The week ended on a flat note Friday but a very slight gain marked the 7th day in a row of gains for the S&P 500.

U.S. stocks pulled back this week with drama in D.C. is giving them less hope of any promising tax reform in the near future. The technical set up of the major indices allowed this path of political headlines to do their damage on stocks as there are resistance areas putting the pressure on the bulls.

    Background political issues kept the headlines busy this week but investors are getting use to this. Traders struggled on whether to buy or sell with no real catalyst and we saw low volatility for most of the week. Finally the market made its big move (mostly likely initiated by computer programs) for the week with a sharp fall early Thursday.
