  1. Intermediate-term test this week

    The market opened higher on Friday, after the jobs report was announced, but actually the futures were already spiking after some good economic data out of Europe. The Dow ended the day up 150-points, closing above 14,000 for the first time since 2007.

  2. Strength Continues

    According to the Relative Strength Index (RSI), the Wishire 4500 has been overbought since 2 January. That strength is overwhelming any attempts to take prices lower. Eventually, that strength will fall off. And with the Wilshire at all-time highs, once strength falters, the downside could be fast and deep. So if you're a bull, enjoy it while you can. I don't know how long it will last, but it's certainly been an impressive start to the new year.

  3. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up


    After a very modest two day pullback on Wednesday and Thursday, stocks rebounded on Friday after what appeared to be a weaker than expected jobs report where we actually saw the unemployment rate move back up to 7.9%, and 157,000 jobs being added, which was slightly lower than estimates. But large upward revisions to the November and December's reports helped give the bulls another reason to buy, and actually the futures were up sharply before the report was released
