  2. Bulls show strength


    Stocks opened sharply lower on Thursday but buyers were quick to jump on the dip and the Dow turned an early 100-point loss into a 64-point gain by the close. Bonds rallied.

  3. A Pause


    Despite being significantly overbought after a week of big gains and probably due for a little profit taking, stocks held up rather well yesterday. The Dow did lose 31-points, but the broader stock indices finished flat to mostly higher with small caps and the international stocks closing with nice gains. Bonds were down.

    Another big rally hits Wall Street yesterday as stocks opened higher but the early modest gains turned into big gains the more the new Fed Chairman (or is it Chairperson) Janet Yellen spoke. The Dow gained 193-points and we saw gains near 1% across the board. Bonds were down.

    It was a quiet day on Wall Street Monday compared to last week's fireworks. The upside momentum stalled, but after a nearly 500-point push higher in the Dow, an 8-point gain may be considered a victory for the bulls, particularly since the indices closed near their highs of the day.
