Stocks opened higher on Friday after the jobs report, which came in slightly higher than estimates, but the unemployment rate was slightly higher than expected. The Dow lost all of the early gains but a late push higher had it close with a 31-point gain. The other indices were mixed and bonds were hit hard.

Although off to a rocky start, stocks had a pretty good week last week. They opened sharply lower on Monday as the situation in Crimea, Ukraine escalated, but by Tuesday investors put that behind them and we ended the week with a decent jobs report. The U.S. indices ended the week with gains near 1% while the International Fund struggled a bit, as did bonds.

Jobs Report:

Actual +175,000 vs. +163,000 estimate.

Unemployment rate: Actual 6.7% vs. 6.6% estimate.

More: Economy adds 175000 jobs in February; unemployment rate up to 6.7%

Update: The job market added 175,000 jobs, while the unemployment rate rose to 6.7% from 6.6%. Estimates were looking for +163,000 and 6.6% respectively.
