  1. Dow rising while small caps are sinking


    The Dow gained 44-points on Monday and the S&P 500 slipped a point, but that wasn't the whole story yesterday. We saw sharp declines in the Nasdaq and the Russell 2000. Some high flying Nasdaq stocks were hit hard and the rest of the tech world seemed to be taken down in sympathy.

    I heard talk that the up coming IPO of Alibaba is also somewhat responsible for the selling. Alibaba's IPO will be the largest Initial Public Offering ever

  2. Indices testing support


    Stocks declined on Friday with the Dow losing 60-points but percentage-wise, the S&P and Russell (small caps) took larger hits. Bonds continue to tumble as yields spiked higher on Friday.

  3. TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up


    It was a down week for stocks and the TSP funds, including bonds (F-fund) as bond yields continued to spike last week. The concern on Wall Street seems to be the winding down of quantitative easing, which will end in October. There is also an important Fed meeting this coming week and investors are all ears as the Fed discusses the future of interest rates.

  5. Positive reversal


    Stocks rebounded nicely on Thursday with many indices moving from morning losses into a positive day. The Dow was not one of them as it ended the day down 20-points, but it had been down 85 at the morning's lows. Small caps had a good day leading to the upside.
