    The carnage continued on Monday as the fear frenzy has escalated to a new level. Stocks are being beaten down, and after another press conference on COVID-19 late yesterday before the closing bell, we saw a move lower into the close to see the Dow lose another record 2997-points. Little was spared although bonds rallied back strongly from last week's beating.

    An alarming explosive rally in the last 20 minutes of trading on Friday turned a strong day for stocks into the largest point gain ever. The Dow jumped 1985-points, a record, but that was still quite a bit short of Thursday's 2350-point loss. We haven't seen back to back positive days in the S&P 500 since February 12, so today's another test for this new bear market.

    Nowhere to hide outside of the G-fund. A failed deal between Russia and Saudi Arabia resulted in significant drop in oil over the weekend; an unforeseen addition to the market turmoil already stirred by the coronavirus outbreak. The sell-off at Monday's open was severe enough to initiate a circuit breaker trading halt for the first time since 1997. The pain was not over for those who didn't retreat already.     Stocks continued their dive on Thursday, and even another Fed intervention of a bond buy back program, couldn't stop the carnage. Maybe it slowed it down, but how much worse could it have gotten yesterday? The Dow lost 2352-points and clearly things are oversold to say the least.   5. TSP Talk Market Commentary 03/12/2020

    Stocks gave back Tuesday's gains on Wednesday and the bulls have not been able to put together two consecutive positive days for stocks since February 11th and 12th - a month ago. The Dow lost 1465-points on the day and the S&P 500 gave up 140-points after Tuesday's 136-point gain, while the Nasdaq gave up all but 2 points of Tuesday's 394 point gain.
