    Looking at the charts we can see that price remains not far off the June peak. Volume was lower than usual. It's like the market is waiting for something. Some bit of news before popping higher.

    Breadth dipped modestly, but remains bullish.

  2. TSP Talk: Stocks hold onto gains as previous highs get tested again

    The late Moderna news on Tuesday sent the futures higher, and while it wasn't a blow out day across the board, stocks did hold onto a lot of those gains in Wednesday's trading session. As for small caps, it was a blowout day, but they had been lagging for some time and are playing a little catch up. The Dow gained a modest 228-points, which was actually about 200-points off the day's high so stocks did fade from the morning highs.

    It was quite a battle in the stock market yesterday between the bulls and bears as we saw several swings back a forth from gains to losses, and we're not talking minor dips and rallies. The Dow traded in a 700-point range, closing up 557-points, while the Nasdaq (and large tech Nasdaq 100 Index) were all over the place from deep early losses of 2%, to closing at the highs of the day with a near 1% gain.     Price on the S&P did close at a fresh high, though it had a higher intra-day high the prior trading day. I'd say the bears are losing this battle; albeit in drawn out fashion.
