  1. TSP Talk - Is the double top pullback just about done?

The pullback off the double top continued yesterday with the three major indices losing ground again, and the more volatile small caps and I-fund hit the hardest as yields and the dollar moved higher again. If there was a silver lining, the indices closed off the lows and near the highs of the day so there was some buying interest late, and the buying seemed to start near key moving averages that the bulls want to see hold in a bull market. Bonds were down with yields being up and how high they ...
  2. TSP Talk - Yields and the dollar rally sending stocks and bonds lower

Stocks opened the new holiday shortened week with the tail wagging the dog to some degree as hawkish comments from European Banks sent yields and the dollar higher yesterday, putting pricing pressure on just about everything here in the US including stocks, bonds, and commodities. The Dow lost 232-points while the S&P and Nasdaq saw more modest losses and again the small caps lagged those large cap indices. This week Microsoft gained 5.63% and the tech sector as a whole was up 4.41% for the week clearly outperforming the other

  5. TSP Talk - CPI triggers volatility and a repeat of January 2000?

Stocks opened higher on Thursday after the hotter than expected CPI report was released, but that didn't last long as the selling started immediately and within a couple of hours the S&P 500 was down 44-points or about 1%. Then, just as quickly as it reversed down, buying kicked in and the S&P went positive just and closed down just 3-points. That afternoon rally created several positive outside reversal patterns on the chart. That sounds really bullish, but we'll revisit the chart ...
