Stocks ended last week with another decline and the TSP stock funds added more varying degrees of losses, so it was another poor day, poor week, and ugly month for the stock market. The Dow shed another 500-points on Friday erasing Thursday's fleeting 458-point gain. Bonds continue to decline as well as yields remain buoyant despite the evidence of weakening economic data.

It was another week for the bears. The negative economic narrative along with a hawkish Fed have given investors every reason to sell in the midst of a bear market. There was one day of hope for a bounce on Wednesday with the C-fund up around 2% and the S-fund up around 3%. The gains were short-lived and were given back the very next day. We didn't know when, but it was only a matter of time before we saw a relief rally. Bear market rallies can be explosive, and I think yesterday's move certainly qualifies as explosive.
