    Stocks pressed on this week making a mockery of the "uphill" September seasonality warned by nearly all market analysts and any bear alike. Record low volatility may have been the only evidence of the September seasonality this month but there always seemed to be buyers available.

  2. Bears nowhere to be found

    Stocks were flat to slightly higher yesterday with the Dow gaining 40-points, the S&P 500 picking up 3-points, while the Nasdaq was flat. The normally volatile month of September has been anything but volatile and it looks like it wants to go out like a lamb. But the 29th of September has a history of being rocky so we'll see if it can buck trend as well.

  3. Up early, down late, flat close

    Stocks opened higher on Tuesday but the early gains faded as they headed into the close and we ended with a flat day for the major larger indices.  The Dow lost 12-points, which makes it the first 4-day losing streak for the Industrials since June, but the losses have been minor, and of course it was coming off a 9-day winning streak.

  4. Early sell-off eases by close

    The new week started with some downside action that accelerated as the morning wore on. The Dow was down 130-points at the lows before the dip buyers showed up yet again. Much of those morning losses were erased leaving only modest losses in the Dow (-54-points) and S&P 500 (-0.22%), but the Nasdaq took more of hit dipping 0.88% on the day.

  5. Stocks bounce back late from skuggish day

    Stocks were down most of the day on Friday but a late rally pushed a couple of major indices into positive territory, while the Dow shed 10-points - a second consecutive loss after 9 straight winning days. Small caps and the Transports continue to outperform as they posted solid gains and are reaching for their old highs.
