  1. TSP's C Fund Provides Highest Returns in March

    The TSP's C fund is the big winner in the monthly returns for March 2012 with a return of 3.3%. For the year, this fund is now up 12.63%. So far in 2012, the biggest returns have come from the S fund with a year-to-date return of 14.45%. (See the 2012 monthly TSP returns table)

    4/04/12

    Stocks pulled back yesterday after the Fed indicated that future economic stimulus is not likely coming any time soon. The Dow lost 65-points but that was nearly 70-points off of the afternoon lows.


    For the TSP, the C-fund was down 0.37% yesterday, the S-fund lost 0.23%, the I-fund dropped 1.36%, and the F-fund (bonds) fell 0.34%. ...
  3. Running out of Gas?

    The structure under the market is not supporting price at this time, and this is concerning. The NY summation index that is one way of tracking this sort of thing, shows a decline since early February, when it dropped below the 6 ema and so far cannot regain it. On the other hand, we see a support region just below, where I have drawn the yellow line. Further, the MACD histogram shows a positive divergence, moving in the opposite direction. Which way will it go? I'm taking orders.

    4/03/12

    Stocks started the 2nd quarter the way it ended the first - with a rally. The Dow gained 52-points on the day and unlike Friday's action, the gains were spread through all of the major indices.

  5. Start the 2nd quarter

    4/02/12

    Stocks rallied on Friday as the bounce off of Thursday's reversal day low, followed through. The Dow did gain 66-points, but not all of the major indices closed in positive territory.


    For the TSP, the C-fund was up 0.37% on Friday, the S-fund was flat, the I-fund gained 0.70%, and the F-fund (bonds) lost 0.57%.
