I was listening to Rush Limbaugh Thursday on the radio. A caller got on the line with Rush and said he served in Afghanistan with a fellow marine. Soon after they returned to civilization life, his friend was forming a new company and asked him for some money to help form the company. He withdrew money from his TSP account and gave his friend the money. Some time later he was hired as a worker at the company. Later, his friend/owner of the company said to him he had to be let go because he could not afford to pay for his obamacare. The company only had six employees.
I thought obamacare did not affect companies with less than 50 employees.

Sounds good in theory, and especially for your friend WorkFE, but I'd bet my bottom dollar that unless you had random unannounced house visits, teleworking would be one of the most abused programs since medicare.

From Economist, most people admit to just chilling out all day.

If they let me do it, I'd only save on gas and commute time but not day care. I couldn't see having the kids running around the house while I'm 'working'.

Boy oh Boy good old facebook sure is a worse monster to cope with than even I ever thought. This should be posted in every office where everyone can see it clearly. My personal favorite is when somebody posts every day with a drink in their hand giving everyone who sees it an idea they are a lush. . Some agencies frown on that stuff or anything else that reflects individuality for that matter.

We've gone from Shop Naked! to Work Naked! What a country. I love survey questions like "Are you more productive?". The Compressed Work Schedule led directly to interactions being postponed from Mondays and Fridays because so and so is on CWS. That really kept things moving fast. Some businesses are able to measure worker performance remotely. Government, especially Headquarters activities, has it much more difficult. Heck, government has a hard time writing down understandable objectives. Now, when all telecommuters go to 24/7, then.......

FYI- I have 3 siblings, of the 4 of us I am the only on who drives his car to work 5 days a week. 50% of my job is Plans.
My 2 sisters only physically report to their Company HQ once a QTR.
My Brother works from home on Mondays and Fridays. I admit, his employer is being very accomodating with his cancer treatment.
I also have a nephew and his wife that both work from home. Ones customer service the other is tech support.

    PO -

You will probably be better off going to their (ohmygov.com) website to get a response from the author. There are some comments on that page:

Otherwise, if it is just a general question for us folks... anyone...?

    A few questions.

Who or what is Meritalk? Their web site doesn't really say though they do state they are donating a percentage of their profits to agencies. Their site is www.meritalk.com so they are not a government agency. There is no "about us" link. The FYI link on the site takes you to ads for restaurants and bars.

Who pays the $50k prize and who is going to pay for the billions of dollars it will cost to roll out a "centralized nationwide database to see what assets are available during which time frames by department/agency and by location, to match the need of the requestor"? Hope it works better and costs less than OPM's new software.

I agree it is a lot better that the old days, but still needs improvement.
