Point Differential - Take S Share 13.33 X 100 = 1333

C Share 11.91 x 100 = 1191

= 142

Point differential S fund- C fund (Pt diff was low 80 to 120), I started Jan 15th, and I was in the S fund and I subracted the C fund (12.93 - 11.86 = 107 diff) this was my first trade and I was not sure. I use excell to work my calculations. When you make your switch you have to divide the amt of $$ of the fund you are in by the share price of the fund of the other 3 funds I use, I was just using the C, S, and I, big mistake not using the F Fund also in my calcutation. I just started figuring and have learning as I go along. Anyways if you look back at the history of the funds the S and I was trading back and forth .25 ahead and then .25 behind. Ex. June 13 S-10.23 & I-10.49. I had a .26 edge, July 11 S-10.68, I-10.42 S fund .26 advantage, Oct 20 S-11.49 & I-11.77, I had .22 adv, Nov 3 S-11.98 & I-11.72 S had .26 Adv, Dec 9 S-12.03 & I-12.28 I has .25 Adv. Sell high and buy low. I had just started doing calculations and I was waiting for the S to go ahead, hasn't happened yet. So I started looking into the C fund with the S. Started in Dec where the S fund went 1.20 ahead & then went back to .80 and then back to 1.20.

So first trade Jan 14 S-12.93, C-11.86 (107 dif-Next Day 110 dif), Change all calculations to have all $$$ equal to the S fund by dividing the amt. I had in the S fund by the Share amt in the Fund, I color code my accounts F Fund is black, C fund is Blue, S fund is red, and the I fund is green. On Feb 4th moved from the C fund back to the S fund, S-12.69 & C-11.81 (88 pt dif, next day 90), picked up 123 shares of S stock. On Feb 11 moved S-13.27 to C-12.15 a 112 pt diff, next day 112 dif, On Feb 23 moved C-11.98 to S-11.98 a 88 dif, next day 90 dif. Pick up 228 shares of S stock. On march 2 moved S-13.32 to C-12.14 a 118 dif, next day 120 diff. This is where I'm at at this point. The S fund has yet to come back in the high 90's or low 100's diff. That is what I am looking for.

Now the kicker that is truly frustrating to me. Since I just started my calculation I was not thinking about the F fund. Every time I moved from the C fund to the S fund when the point diff was in the high 112 to 120 the S and the C gained in share price, and the F fund went down or stayed the same, when I moved from the C to the S, both the S and C basically lost a lot of share price. The F went up. If I had moved from the S to the F I would be over 10 % gain for the year. As it is only 6 something.

So after all this hear is my system.

S to C Points diff 115 or higher

C to S Points diff 100 or lower

S to FPoints diff 310 or higher

F to S Points diff 280 or lower

Sell high buy low pick up stocks shares, let me know if this makes any sense at all. I like to keep on trying new things, looking into using the $$$$ system, when one share get at least $2,000 ahead of another fund, move to that fund. You have to start with all $$$$$$ equal in each fund in your excel spread sheet and everyday when the shares come in plug them into your spread sheet, the $$ amt will change. Something new, just starting working on that one. I figure I can use both my system to work together.

good luck, any questions let me know

I just started doingmy transfers this way since Jan 15, I'm still tweeking. I am up a little over 7 % for the year. My indicators said to change to the C fund. Then I added the F Differential to my calculations, I am now going to use only the F, S, and I funds. The F Fund Differential was, I would have switched then or when it hit at 320. Right now the C fund is 142 and the F fund is 310, when the C catches up to the S the market usually losses, so I am looking at when the F fund hits at 315 or higher, I will move my funds to the F fund.

I am a #'s person, I see #'s and I try to play with them, and adjust accordingly, so here is my forcast. Again I use the S Fund as my focal point. All my #'s are plus or minus from the S Fund

F Fund = 310, C Fund = 142, and I Fund = -28

When I change my account onMarch 2 to C, it was at 120, I thought wow, I did great, then after I started doing the math, my #'s tell me never play the C Fund. If the markets are good the S and I out do the C and when the markets are bad the F outdoes the C.

I am not sure if I am in an adjustment to my #'s. When the C hit at 120, the F was also at 311, If I had played the F fund, I would have made a killing, live and learn, I am. The F at 310 is almost as high as it has ever been, 320 on March 4th, then took a huge drop to 235 on March 22, and now it has come back to 310 as of yesterday. By all my indicators I should move my funds to the F Fund, the C at 142 is outrages. I will make my change just in one hour from now, will look at the Stock market, if it is going up, I will change to the F fund.

So after today (S looks way up, F looks way down) the F differential will be way above 315. Tempting but with today's job news. I would be wary (I was 50% F today and it's killing me). The C and the S are moving in concert today so the C differential should be about the same as it was, about 140, which is way above your 115 threshold. I think I will throw the 50% that I have in F into C today. Haven't decided yet.

04-02-2004, 03:58 PM
Dave, I have learned through my #'s that I don't want to play the C anymore, and yes, the way the market is going today the F should go way past my 310. I just changed to the F today, looking for a market adjustment. I use the C only as a guide from now on, it has gone way past the 110 - 120 so now I will adjust my min and max to 115 to 130, in the past, when the differential went past the min and max it would hit a point where it would again go back and forth between the highs and lows. This is when you will make a killing changing back and forth. Sometimes within 2 to 3 days up to a week.

Enoy, I will show my earnings next time, I have to go to work now, the hospital calls.

FrizzB.

Does sound like you are understanding what I am doing, just playing the #'s game.

Frizz B.
04-02-2004, 04:01 PM
Dave, also look at the #'s of the F to see why it was killing you, you were probably at a high pt differential to the S. Go back 3 months and put in the #'s of the highs and lows in the S to F, you will be amazed.

Well if my #'s don't lie the C,S, and I should drop next week and the F will do up. The Differential came in at a whopping 331, higher than ever. I did change my fund to the F before the 11:00 deadline. Here are my #'. In my $100000 account I had F fund with 9775 shares, C fund 8396 shares, S fund where I had my funds, 7502 shares, and the I Fund 7348 shares. My S fund came in at $100825 and with the swithch to the F fund I changed all my share to equal the S fund. Take the $100825 and divide by each share price. F fund = $100825 / 10.13 = 9953, C fund = $100825 / 12.01 = 8395, the S fund stays the same and the I fund = $100825/ 13.60 = 7414, I only lost 1 share in the C fund and picked up F Fund 178 shares,in the I fund,66 shares, what I am looking to do in pick up shares over the course of my transactions. I am looking for the F fund to go from the 331 differential to 310 or lower, so I have adjusted my point differential for now.

We will see, just a joke, Tom, but at least I was not in the G fund, and thanks again for the change to the I fund on Monday, you increased my yearly % increase by almost 1 %, not bad for a 2 day turnaround.

Frizz - I thought I was beginning to understand your differential theory but now I am confused again. How are you trying to increase your number of shares? And why You only get as many shares in any fund that your money will buy. If you've 10,000 shares at $10 each and of got 9,000 at $12 each then you've got more shares but I've got more money.

Frizz B.

Wheels,

I use my excel spread to keep track of what my funds are doing. After every tranaction, I make each fund equal to the fund that I have just transferred out of. So I adjust my shares in each account to do this. I can then see how the fund that I moved into is doing to the other funds.

If you keep a log of all your tranactions, you will see that we you move into a different fund the shares will change. You objective is to increase your shares from moving from for example C to S back to C. If you have more shares in the C fund from the first tranaction, you have increased your money value.

Since Jan 15, 2004 I have increased my C shares by 353 x 12.01 and the S by 315 x 13.44 At todays share price, that is an increase of a little over $4200. Make sure to take off the shares you have made from your bi-weekly allotments.

I moved my funds onMarch 31, 2004 from the I fundto theS fund ($100.000)Then Iadjusted all my funds shares tomake each Fund equal, I like to start with equal amts to see how my fund is doing compared to the rest in the same time span. I am looking to increase my shares in my accounts. The more shares I have the more money I have. The date is April 1

F Fund = Shares 9775.17 x 10.23 = $100000

C Fund = Shares 8396.30 x 11.91 = $100000

S Fund = Shares 7501.88 x 13.33 = $100000

I Fund = Shares 7347.54 x 12.61 = $100000

With my point differential changing from 310 to 331 in the F Fund & 142 in the C fund, my #'s said to change to the F Fund which I did Friday April 2 to start Monday in the F Fund, as you will see I gained in Shares, I used the S Fund of $100825 And divided it by the share price to get my shares in each account and start fresh. April 1 / April 2

F Fund = Shares 9775.17 x 10.13 = $ 99022/ $100825 /10.13 = 9953.13 F shares

C Fund = Shares 8396.30 x 12.01 = $100840 / $100825 /12.01 = 8395.10C shares

S Fund = Shares 7501.88 x 13.44 =$100825 / $100825 / 13.44 =7501.88 S Shares

I Fund = Shares 7347.54 x 13.60 = $99927/ $100825 / 13.60 = 7413.62. I shares

Hope this explains it better, I will update this on Monday again 100 % F fund for me. I believe the stock market will take a breather and give back some of its gains. I will see now if my number system is worth anything, all I have heard from everyone else is the market will still gain.

April 1, 2004 S Fund=Shares 7501.8x13.33=$100000, On April 2, 2004 the

S Fund=Shares 7501.8x13.44=$100825/$100825/13.44=7501.8 S Shares

On April I had $100,000 in the S Fund the differential was 310 to the F fund, knowing that the stock market was having a good day, I moved my S Fund to the F fund to start the week, On April 5 the market went up again and I lost. April 6 the F fund came back to even and the S Fund went belowApril 1 start. I will always show my shares to show the increase or decrease of my fund shares to compare with my starting shares in each fund. I do the color coding so I know which fund I am working with. I am still showing with my point differential, the stocks will decline and the F Fund will climb.

F Fund = Shares 9775.17 x 10.13 = $ 99022/ $100825 /10.13 = 9953.13 F shares

April 5 F fund shares = 9953.13 x 10.10 = $100,527

April 6 F fund shares = 9953.13 x 10.13 = $100,825

back to even, still ahead if I had stayed in the S Fund. Share differential is now at 326, when the differential goes to 310 or lower, I will start to think about going back to the S Fund. But then again I might change at 320 since the differential went up to 341 on Monday, I like to keep my options open.

I listened to what Tom had to say about tommorrow, and although my differential #’s don’t support it, I said what the $$$$.. So I moved my funds to the S fund instead of the C. I started the S Fund on April 1, 2004 with 7501.8755 and I now ]have 7518.6582. I gained 16.7827 shares of stock in the S Fund. I will be going back to the F fund tommorrow morning, but right now I will play the S.[/font]

April 15, 2004Fshares 9925x10.04=$99655/(S)13.02=7654 Started with7518shares, now have7654S shares. I picked up 135 shares of stock.

This is for Wheels, I did lose money in this trade, I did not lose as much money if I would have stayed in the S fund. When I make a trade and I pick up shares, in the long run I will have gained, when the stock prices start to rise then we will see the difference. I am very pleased with the shares that I have picked up. If I had stayed with the C Fund as I had done in the past, would not have picked up as many shares as I did.

In my account I said I would be changing to either the F or the G, I did the F

On April 1, 2004 I started with 9775 (F) shares which equaled $100,000

April 15, 2004(F) 9925x10.04=$99655/(S)13.02=7654

April 23, 2004 changed from (S) to the (F)

(S) 7654 shares * 13.23=$101263 / 10.01 = 10116 shares

I now have 10116 shares – 9775 = 340 gained shares of stock in 23 days.

My differential is now at 322, my changing range was right at 320, see what happens next

I am up 1.26 % since the April 1, 2004

Only the C fund is up since April 1st, (.76%), all other funds is in the negative for the month.

(F) = - 2.15% (S) = -.75% (I) = -1.62%

I am probably going to change to the S fund by tommorrow morning. the Differential is at 298 which is a little lower than my low differential. The differential might go lower, but I dont want to miss the stocks when they go back up. So if the stocks go lower in the morning or stay close to even I will be moving back to the S fund. It the funds go high tommorrow like they went low today I will hold off. I will update tommorrow night. My goal is to gain shares. right now I will am looking at picking up another 140 or so shares of the S Fund.

WOW, YES,WHEEEE!!1
I could not have aske for anything more, made the change to the S fund this morning before the deadline. Started the day at a 298 differential, a little lower than I was planning on. Here it is
My F was at $100858/12.80 (S) = 7879 S shares, I had 7654 shares 3 days ago. In 3 days I picked up 225 shares of stock, what else can you ask for. Now I am looking for the S fund o gain in share prices. I will update my fund at the end of the month, which is tommorrow, I think I am up at least .8% for the month. A lot better than any of the funds are doing.

We are at the end of May, my account has 7898 shares of S fund time the price of 12.87 = $101647. So far in the 2 months that I have started this account, I have a 1.647 % increase. If the S fund has a couple of good days in June, I will be looking for a trade. The Share price took a tumble, but I rode it out and it came back. I did not panic, I waited and now we will see what happens.

I now have 7891 shares of S fund equaling $101,393. Just goes to prove the S to I differential is really quite the ups and downs, when I made my change on Thursday morning, I had the differential right around 20. At the end of the tradiing day the differential was at 36, and although on Friday the The TSP fund index quotes showed that the I fund had gained 1.20 and the S fund only .71, the S fund outgained the I fund by a point.

"Your not swinging your full fund in and out like I was so when it happens it probably won't hurt as bad. I think you can make as good an estimate before noon with fresh data rather than yesterdays momentum."

I disagree to a point. The fresh data is good to know for long term, but I am talking about day to day, when there is a big difference (+ or – 10 pts) between the two funds.

I don’t use any fresh data on any of the funds, I only use my numbers and I have done quite well. To many times, when the EFA was up or down for the day, the I fund did the opposite.

I only use this information as a guide. In my percentage theory, I only add or subtract a percentage of each fund in according to where the data is at 9am. Approxiametely every 11 points the EFA, 9 pts. for Wilsire 4500 and 10pts for the S&P 500, I will add 1% to their fund. I make trades almost every day.

This is my example for the I fund:

On 11/24 the I fund was a +14 points, and at that time the I fund was at its high of 21.31. The EFA fund was down less than the .5% so I should of only added 1% to my I fund, but I added 10%. At the end of the day on 11/27 the I fund dropped 15 pt but still gained 2 points on the EFA to a +16. Although the EFA was up on 11/28, I still added another 2% to my I fund because of the +16 pts. When the market closed the EFA was up .83% but the I fund dropped another 4 pts. Now the I fund was a –6pts. I am not always this lucky, but it happens quite often. 11/29 EFA had a nice gain at 9am and I was hoping to take the gain and I dropped my I fund to 3%. At closing the EFA gained 1.11% and the I fund gained 1.42% and we were at a zero pt diff.
