Does anyone think this verifiable report will help resolve the debate on the need for Driver's License ID in order to cast your ballot - (or the equivalent that the Dept of Revenue hands out for ID?) :suspicious:

Looking at demographics, I'm guessing that most of them voted Republcan in many elections.

I don't know . The states mentioned: Among the findings, the study showed that states with the most “deadwood” voters were Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Except for thinking I've read something about ACORN in Washington state, I truly don't know about the others. But - You can be sure this report will stir up a hornet's nest of `suspicions verified.' ...forgetting that this is an age-old problem!

To me the WHICH PARTY is not the answer, nor has anything to do with the fraud that apparently goes on, in that as citizens we are allowing, abetting it - kinda like leaving your keys in the car & the windows down..
There are cheats everywhere, in every culture, of every tradition (I think we have already briefly discussed that elsewhere..) I personally think it is the MOB !!

Despite the fact that I cannot imagine what it must be like on Voting Day in Large cities, Large Precincts, it would seem that having identifiable government (why wouldn't they love that?) ID such as the DL or equivalent, along with your voter's registration card that you show when you sign in would go a long way toward eliminating fraud, no matter whether for Mayor, Schoolboard, or county coroner, or VPresident ........
- and wouldn't it make the lines move faster? Show your cards, or move out. Period. :suspicious:

It's not even a question of which party. It's a question of each individual state deciding how to register voters. The Federal government never becomes involved unless there's an issue of a violation of individual rights as protected in the constitution.

The federal government doesn't generally decide HOW each state registers their voters. For example, in some states, felons cannot register to vote, but not in all states. The constitution only broadly protects the rights of individuals voting in each state, like in the registration of minorities in the south in the 60's.

The last constitutional crisis occurred in the 2000 election, when the Supreme Court intervened in that case, where the conservative judges on the court overrode the court in the state of Florida. What was so bizarre was that none of the justices who voted for that decision had really EVER favored the activist agenda of overcoming the courts of any state.

I always like to hear from conservatives about activist liberal judges overcoming decisions that are the sovereign rights of state courts. In this case, the Supreme Court made a decision to do just that. Why didn't the conservative ideologues say otherwise? It's like the great trap had been sprung, as if it were the Marbury vs. Madison case in the year 2000.

Phil: you brought up the subject of parties - I had not mentioned it in the original.... Buster had asked about ACORN, but that isn't considered a party, right??
My understanding of what you are saying, in your reference to the Fed Gov't, is that the Voters ID card would be strictly up to each state, that the undocumented & their allied organizations could then contest that up to the Supreme Court as unconstitutional.
It would seem that any Administration, having won what they have, would want to protect it by making sure the folks that voted for them were legal voters, besides being Alive & breathing...unless, of course, that might be a fearful thought...:worried:

I'm not one to defend the rights of states in administering their elections, but until each state gives up that right to the Federal government to determine who gets to vote in their district, then they retain that right. If you'd like to start a grassroots movement to remove individual state rights, then you need to start soon.

The only time the congress has interfered has been in making the universal voting age 18, and by abolishing the poll tax in recent history. I actually would prefer the Federal government to run each national election, but that pesky constitution just gets in the way every time.

Oh yes. Once the Supreme court, with its activist judges, interfered in the 2000 election, overturning the right of a state court to make a recount.

Phil -- I realize you're an Officer and a Gentlemen

and are highly opposed to 'name calling' ....

....but once in awhile it feels a lot better when you turn up the fires and really get it out...

Pesky -- for instance -- shows you've got gumpsion and you're getting riled up .... and that's good for the reader too ...

that way we can get fired up and ride the wave...

Activitist judges -- that's getting there too...

I think it would be kind of neat if sometimes you just let it fly and say what you really think ...

.... just act like there's no ladies around... no kids... only some rough guys and let it rip :D

Sometimes expressing acerbic wit through understatement has its own reward. Getting riled up is counterproductive.
