I reflected on this last night:

I pledge alligence to the flag of the United States of America

Here it seems 'alligence' is wholly dependent on whether the President is Republician, White, Male, and with a particular background. If 'we' did not put him in office then 'we' are not bound to any commitment or alligence.

and to the Republic for which it stands

Here it seems that is entirely dependent on everything going smooth and wonderful. The economy being solid and life and business throughout the USA doing well.

But if things are not going well - irreguardless of whatever circumstances brought the difficulties about - then it appears the efforts to ridicule and tear down the President will form the basis for the bulk of our interactions.

one Nation

Here a united Nation is impossible - because the atmosphere is largely like a Bar Room Scene. Over and over people are drinking from a cup of discord and anger - and it appears largely intoxicating and enjoyable - everyone feeding off one another and all are happily in agreement to make Obama the target.

under God

Not if God means forgiveness, acceptance, love, and understanding.

Indivisible

Here it seems the 'Inseperable' and 'Undividable' is primarily in the united efforts to attack the President and anything associated with him.

With Liberty and Justice for All.

We will say and do whatever we feel like doing - no matter what anyone thinks.

I realize that many are disappointed Obama was elected President and the sentiments frequently expressed here mostly reflect this. But he is the President and he became President at one of the most difficult times the USA has ever faced. Is it possible that we as a group could limit this bashing - slamming - and endless negative garbage to one or two Threads. I'm honestly asking this because often when I'm going from one thread to another I'm not expecting the Bar Room Atmosphere. The absense of anything POSITIVE seems wrong and hugely imbalanced - yet I and the others believe it would be a waste of time and likely fuel even greater attacks.

I guess what I'm asking is: 'Is it possible for this MB to represent a Nation - where we can stive to voice our genuine feelings regardles what those feelings may represent in such a way that we limit these feelings to certain threads.

What I share may often appear as clutter to you; so I feel we as a group should strive to avoid the clutter for everyone else.

Steady, my pledge is to the country to tell the people of the world that my country is UNITED in what we stand for.

My pledge is not to give up my voice as a citizen of this country.

We are to be united by the cause that our freedom is the cause.

We are not to be silenced by anyone.

I am a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I do not hate. I only want the philosphies of our fore-fathers to provide a free country to be foremost.

I am not happy that President Obama won. Why, Because I 'm a Republican, not a Democrat. End of story.

I will voice my philosophy in the right forum at the right time.

Your clutter is acceptable, but as you can see I view that pledge totally different.

Peace Brother.

Thank you ! my wonderful friend and Peace to you too.

I completely agree with you Frixxxx - and I wholly support anyone being free to voice how they feel and there is no doubt that you are everybit as 'American' and 'Deciated' as me.

I'm not wanting ANYONE - to stop sharing or expressing themselves; I'm simply 'wondering' if we can pool many of the shared expressions to say a 'few Threads' and not have them so shattered everywhere.

BTW - that was a great response ;)

I see that to, Topics should be topic specific, without relying on a tangent (bashing) arguments for support. Have a great weekend!
