I took off work early to catch the matinee premier.

I have been following the characters of this movie since June/July through their MySpace profiles- an ingenius way of marketing the movie early on.

This indeed helped the movie's fanbase to "connect" with the main characters prior to seeing the movie. Thus, humanizing them.

I have to say, the movie met my expectations.

I won't give anything away for those who want to see it.

I will only say... 2 thumbs up, bearing in mind I love this kind of stuff! Not bad for a reportedly $25M budget!

If the numbers are good... look out for a sequel.

Intriguing. Reminds me of '28 Days Later' and '28 Weeks Later'.

Just a heads up though- since the entire movie is from the view of a camcorder, take motion sickness pills if you believe the shakiness will get to you.

It's really not that bad though, but there are very shaky moments.

So, has anyone else seen this movie?

Also, all this talk about the movie causing folks to become sick is exagerated, IMO.

It's not that bad.

I enjoyed The Bucket List.....it made me cry.

And I liked Atonement, but it's not really for guys.

If you like Godzilla type monster movies the least bit, you will love Cloverfield.

A sequel is guaranteed.

I love Godzilla movies, but I think I'll be sitting out Cloverfield.

I get a bad headache when I read a book on the bus. Ninety minutes of viewing footage from a jittery video camera does not sound fun.

I live more than 90 miles from the nearest theatre. So, the only time we get to go is on vacation or when I get sent for training to a larger city. This past summer, my wife and I went past the red carpet for the premier of Atonement in London. Didn't see anyone we recognized.

Yes, there are jittery parts. But it's not the entire film.

I recommend it. I made my wife go. She really didn't want to go with all the bad press on the filming method and the "scary" parts. In fact after the first 5 mins. she said sarcastically "thanks for taking me to this movie". But, after it was over she said she did like it after all. It's unique. You feel like your there with them.
