Uh, oh! Was this just today or has it been a pattern? I'll try to keep an eye on it. If the dedicated server we moved to last year is getting bogged down, that is not good. If I need a bigger /faster machine, you'll be seeing more and more ads to pay for a new server. :D

Thanks. Good sign. The hosting company said they made an adjustment that may help. Traffic on Fridays is about 20% less than Mon - Thu, and Sat and Sun is very light, so we'll have to wait until Monday to get a good indication if the adjustment helped.

Thanks. What type of connection are you on now? My connection is actually moving along pretty good right now but we're not near the peak hour yet.
Are you seeing partial pages when the page loads slowly, or is it just not coming up at all, then finally all at once? The former sounds would probably be an internet connection problem, where the latter would be the server.
Thanks again for the feedback!

There was definitely some slowing down at 10:55 ET.
2 factors
1. The 12:00 EST IFT deadline.

You are absolutely right, 350z! Because your waiting until the last minute REALLY hampers ME since you are currently on my top ten list of people-who-really-seem-to-know-what-they-are-doing. I don't think "Currently Active Users" has anything to do with the access speed. These could all be just idly "logged in." I'm not sure if there is anyway to to measure how many people are simultaneously trying to access new pages at the same time, or post. This obviously peaks just before the deadline, but the number of "users" may not correlate very well.

And as I've said before "my speed during this time of the day slows down due to all of the people at lunch surfing the net. There is around 20k people here and it happens almost every day" The problem can be at either end or both!:o

The requirement to have moves posted by noon is the factor that makes the board slow. Solution, let folks post an hour or two later than the noon deadline.

I have heard from other boards using this software that the search is slow. Probably something that can be programmed better on their end. I'm assuming it will be fixed with the next version release because of the compaints.
