As always, these numbers (including the numbers for the individual funds)have had all compounding removed so that someone who started in March is comparable to someone who started 2 years ago. If you want to know what your return is with compounding (adds a few tenths of a percent in most cases) see the tracker spreadsheet that milk_man sends out.
If you have comments on the format let me know.

Fundsurfer,
I think that you switched the last two columns after TOP-10 Last 12 months (the YTD and 12 months). What dates are you using for YTD, last 12 months, and last 6 months in your POST?
I have in my spreadsheet for Nov. 1 - Apr 30 a 6mo return of +17.84%.
Best,
M

"Master", you started posting your moves on Nov. 3rd so you missed a couple days of trading and didn't make the tracker totals for Nov. YOur 6-month should start next month.

I've seriously been 40%I, 30%C, 30% S since 10/05, hance no updates as I didn't think I had to since I wasn't trading. My new allocations go into the same thing. What do I have to do to keep this allocation current and tracked? It looks like you stopped tracking me in 3/06. I do appreciate the work, though, seriously. I'm just asking.

If the list wasn't updated with only active posters, those who post once would forever be on the list, long after they lost interest. This could end up with hundreds of inactive individuals.
Plus, it keeps those interested involved. Your price to pay for all the work being done is your minimal contribution to the ongoing conversation. It's the least one can do... ;)

I agree. mlk_man asks that you post at least once a quarter in your account to keep you on the tally. Seems reasonable. A message board isn't much without posts. :)
And you don't want to miss out on the possibly of winning a TSP Talk travel mug. :D

Aslan, I can add you back, it's not a big deal. However, obviously you aren't even reading the posts on this site or you would have seen the several posts that I made about posting in your account at least once per quarter. I don't think once in 3 months is too much to ask.
http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/showthread.php?t=2545&page=2
Again, the main goal of the tracker is to follow along with the people who have the best returns in the hopes of improving one's own return. And to figure out who has "the right stuff". It is not to simply help a person figure out what their returns is because they don't feel like doing it themselves, though I'm sure some are using it this way. They have personal accountants for that type stuff.
Again, everyone please post in your account at least once each quarter. You have until the end of June........:D
Happy returns,
M_M

The TSP Talk travel mugs have been delayed. Because of the delay I asked for a free upgrade to a better mug. Let's see if they are nice enough to oblige. Once I know I'll post a picture of them.
Because of the tie, it looks like we will be giving away 5 mugs for April's tally. I'll send each of the winners a PM requesting a shipping address. Nice job!

"Master", you started posting your moves on Nov. 3rd so you missed a couple days of trading and didn't make the tracker totals for Nov. YOur 6-month should start next month.
When I started posting, there were several posts that were deleted. Nevertheless, as of today, it is 6 months from the time that the site recognizes as my start day: (11-03-05 through 05-03-06) => +16.48%

The TSP Talk mug will be used proudly at work, perhaps bringing attention to the site.
Maybe you should consider using 5-star ratings for those with top 25% members (based on returns) out of the group that participated in 2005. Then every quarter, you might earn a star (top 25%), lose a star (bottom 25%), or do not change (middle 50%). Given the number of people in the tally who do not have a long-term history (including me) as per website rules, you might want to consider placing everybody who is being tracked as 3 stars, and those who did well in the first quarter as 4 stars. Then, in the 2nd quarter, you might start the changes. It's my opinion that Reputation should be based on returns, and Karma on the quality of advise. Somebody might be extremely helpful and might need to be recognized that way (Karma). Just my 2 cents.

I understand all of your points. I track my returns daily in Quicken, although I rebalance every 3 months back to 30/30/40. I don't need it for my tracking, I just wanted to see how it was doing against the active traders, that's all. I don't care if anyone follows what I do or not. Thanks
Bottom line:
Bought 30% C at 13.12
Bought 30% S at 15.53
Bought 40% I at 16.53
all on 9/20/05 and have held since while dollar cost averaging into these funds likewise. It is up to you all if you want to track or not. I now know the rules better, and I'll try and keep up. I appreciate what you are doing.

If the purpose of the Tracker is to allow TSPers to evaluate alternative investment strategies, Aslan's high risk, passive style and excellent return deserve consideration. In addition, the tracking workload for a passive investor is minimal - one entry per month. Finally, Aslan appears to be a knowledgeable investor and, therefore, a valuable contributor to TSPTalk discussions.

Well the mugs finally arrived and unfortunately I didn't get an upgrade for our delay. As a matter of fact the mugs, while nice, are not the quite the quality I was expecting. Next time I won't buy them over the internet.
I will ship them out on Thursday to our top 3 April returns (5 total because of ties).
What was decided on how to handle future monthly winners? I know we wanted to get some nicer prizes for quarterly and annual returns but did we agree to send 3 per month?
