Good article Azanon. Another advantage of the plan is that our Heirs would get the money when we die, instead of it going to the Govt.

Great article, thanks. I too would like to see more investment options. But I do use my IRA for this.

If we were ever to invest a portion of our SS into the TSP, we would be that much further ahead of the game since we are already familiar with managing it.

God Bless:^

After reading the article, I find it to be very one sided, like buying a bridge!

Fact: then why don't I invest allocations 38G, 7F, 43C, 7S and 5I. That's the way the plan would have it.

Rgds!!! :) Spaf (former lemming)

Actually, that's just the distribution of funds based on how the federal employees have invested their money. It is not meant as a suggested allocation.

The most interesting part of the article in my estimation was the fact that the social security return is pegged to the G fund. Heh. I guess that ends the old discussion we had on here about whether or not returns would be at all enhanced by dumping social security into the G fund... it's already there. :P

"It is not meant as a suggested allocation".

Fact: It is the actual allocation for 3.3 million government workers. Individual allocations may vary, and I'm sure they do!

I just feal, MHO (my humble opinion), that government employees have been kept in the dark, about their investments; investment education, and options!

At least it puts to rest the assertion that people would be reckless with their money - under the scenario of social security money being diverted into a TSP system. If anything, people are too cautious.

Still... about55% of TSP money is invested in stock funds - that's decent and over a long period of time, the return with an allocation like that would outperform SS by a wide margin.
