September

We finished August with a nice little rally with all of the stock funds picking up over 1% on the day.  Now we head into September - the worst month historically for stocks, but it is not a dull month at all.
Friday’s gains solidified a 1.5% gain for the C-fund in August while the S-fund […]

Interfund Transfer

100% G
Good morning. Hopefully this morning’s gains will hold as I complete my one day move into the I-Fund. But the sentiment survey system and Trader Fred say it’s time to back off again. I’m going into the G-fund (rather than F) as the F-fund appears a little extended. I’m making an interfund transfer to […]

Volatile pre-holiday behavior

We came into this week knowing much of Wall Street would be on vacation and that the low volume trading would make for some volatility.  We have seen just that.  We’ve had big up days and big down days.  We’ve had big intraday sell-offs turn into gains, and drop down again.  I expect more of […]

Interfund Transfer

100% I-fund
I am going to play the seasonality strength for tomorrow. The Ebbchart likes the I-fund, and even one of Trader Fred’s beta day trading submodels is giving a one day buy signal for tomorrow. I’m making an interfund transfer to 100% I-fund this morning. It could be just a one-day move.

Market rebounds

Whatever bothered the market on Tuesday seemed to have been forgotten on Wednesday as stocks rallied sharply almost completely regaining all of Tuesday’s losses.
The TSP Talk website was moved to an upgraded server the other night and almost everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.  For that reason I will be working on some […]

Light volume pullback

Volume has dried up and it’s difficult to make much of any action this week.  The Dow lost 50+ points and small caps lost 1%.  The market is still overbought and we could see more sideways to lower action for a couple of days.
This week is seasonally average at best, but this pre-Labor Day Friday […]

End of August

The title of last Friday’s commentary was, “Tired and overbought”, but the market acted anything but tired or overbought as the Dow ended up nearly 150 points and the incline was steady.  Volume is light and the bears seemed to have taken their vacation before the bulls as sellers were hard to find.
The rally kept […]

Tired and overbought

Stocks rallied strongly out of the gate, but as we talked about yesterday, the market has been getting stretched to the upside and the indicators were getting overbought.  We were looking for some selling and we seem to be seeing the start of a pullback.  Is this going to ignite the test?
I was actually impressed […]

Looks good - Is it?

The market got a boost from its old friends, mergers and acquisitions.  The Dow was up nearly 150 points yesterday closing near the day’s high.  That is a good sign.  It gets better.  After the close, Bank of America announced a deal they are making with Countrywide and the futures immediately jumped out of their […]
